The project idea is to transform an unused public space, namely the esplanade of Bab Lamrissa in Salé, Morocco. This space, previously neglected, is quite extensive, covering an area of approximately 750m2. Although currently vacant, it inherently serves as a meeting or transit space for people, providing direct access to the medina. Despite its potential, it remains an untapped area. The aim is to develop this space into a vibrant and functional area, capitalizing on its strategic location and maximizing its utility for residents and visitors alike. The project envisions a carefully planned transformation to create a dynamic public space that addresses the needs of the community while enhancing the aesthetic and functional aspects of the esplanade. This initiative seeks to unlock the full potential of the area, turning it into a lively and inviting destination that contributes positively to the urban fabric of Salé.

This project envisions a thoughtful redesign of the esplanade of Bab Lamrissa in Salé, placing a strong emphasis on creating diverse activity spaces for people of all ages. Recognizing the limited entertainment options and activity hubs in Salé, I have strategically incorporated areas dedicated to children's play and accessible sports equipment to promote a more active and engaging community life.

In response to the scarcity of pedestrian-friendly public spaces in the area, I have introduced a pedestrian walkway that traverses the entire project. This not only facilitates safe and convenient movement but also encourages social interactions among pedestrians.

To address the challenge of limited shaded areas, especially given Salé's sunny climate, I have introduced an abundance of green spaces and trees. These elements not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also provide natural shading. Additionally, I've incorporated exterior structures with perforations strategically placed to create shaded zones. This design acknowledges the need for relief from the intense sun throughout the day.

The project seeks to transform the esplanade into a dynamic outdoor environment, fostering community engagement and recreational activities. The combination of play areas, sports facilities, pedestrian pathways, green spaces, and shaded zones aims to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of the community. This thoughtful and inclusive approach aims to enhance the overall quality of the public space, promoting physical activity, social interaction, and a sense of community in the heart of Salé.
