Project idea

Rather than yielding to the limitations of the narrow, elongated 47m plot, which could have resulted in dark, cramped spaces, we embraced Mass Fragmentation, splitting the building into three interconnected architectural volumes. This approach goes beyond aesthetics—it acts as a functional catalyst, creating light-filled and ventilated courtyards that breathe life deep into the heart of the building.

Project description

Located in Amman – Al Jubeiha, this residential building sits on a 705 m² plot with a width of 15 m and a length of 47 m, featuring a main street-facing façade while being surrounded by neighboring buildings on other sides. The constraints of the site, including the three-story building limit and proximity to neighbors, posed a significant design challenge, inspiring innovative solutions to maximize space, light, and privacy.

The building comprises 6 apartments designed specifically for student housing, thoughtfully arranged to create functional, comfortable, and modern living spaces within the 672 m² building area. The design also includes dedicated parking, ensuring convenience and practicality for residents. Each unit balances efficiency with openness, providing an environment that supports both study and daily life.

The exterior combines Ruwayshed natural stone, wood, aluminum, and glass, merging warmth and durability with a contemporary aesthetic. Large glazing allows natural light to penetrate the interiors, creating bright, inviting spaces. This material palette reflects a design philosophy that values sustainability, functionality, and visual harmony.

This project demonstrates how constraints can become opportunities, transforming a challenging site into a smart, elegant design. Every apartment offers privacy and practicality, perfectly suited for student living, while the building maintains harmony with its urban context.
