Ferry Terminal act as a Community hub interconnected with a public walking park

Idea projektu

The main goal of this project is to understand the needs of the community itself in the old Ratnapura city, restoring the context with an improved transportation system, introducing a ferry terminal system, while improving the walkability within the city, incorporating urban greenery enhancement. at the same time restoring the vanished children parck as a public walking park within the given site.

Here, there are key factors that are considered.
To restore the old ferry terminal system, to restore the children's park as a community-owned public park, improving the tourist attraction and local gem marketing majorly catered to Rathapura old city, resisting the flood level through specially designed concreate rock based dams along the river without causing environmental deforestation to create dams.

Also, by rearranging public parking areas as a full time parking slots and moving them to the underground connected to the ferry terminal hub, acting as a community belonging which active for 24 hours.
recreating pavments and safe road lines for foot cycling and vehicle lines separately to ensure the safety of the community itself.
Planting shaded trees and specially designed structures that act as umbrellas are concepts designed to enhance the walkability and safety of the people
The structure itself acts as a walkable platform for people to have their own freedom to use the spaces for their own needs. ( festivals, etc.)

The upper structure is designed specially for the children to draw, play, and view the greenery and dense urban structure while also being able to feel the difference in the wind and the colours of the sky. They have the freedom to use the walls that have been designed to embrace their creativity through drawing and crafting

The special fact is that the ramped pathway interconnected with the walking track allows people, specially disabble people, to also feel the space the same way others do.

There are so many factors that have been described in the panels to be read.

Technické informace

Here, the most important fact is that the major structure is built using lightweight concrete for durability, sustainability, and sustainabilty and long lasting less maintenance since it's a public community space. Some of the parts, which are the preferred walls and the partition walls, are constructed using brick masonry and timber installation.

to get the formation of the building, a long span organic shell structure which is constructed using the same method of waffle slab to enhance the load bearing system of the roof slab, which acts as a green roof, which is walkable.
